A pig-tailed macaque after 2 years released back to the natural environment on the upstream of O Lau River

Recently,kqbd basel through the camera trap program of Phong Dien Natural Reserve Management Board, an individual of a pig-tailed macaque with various similar characteristics to the one released back to the forest 2 years ago has been recorded.

After verifying and analyzing the characteristics, the results showed that it was the pig-tailed macaque that the Forest Protection Department of Hue city collaborated with Phong Dien Natural Reserve Management Board rescued and released back to the natural environment on the upstream of O Lau River, Phong My Commune, Phong Dien District on September 12, 2018.

Interestingly, this pig-tailed macaque now becomes the “leader” of a group of 10 other pig-tailed macaque individuals living in the natural upstream forest of O Lau River.

2 years ago, Mrs. Tran Van Son, Chairman of Hue Pet Relief Association got the news that someone was selling an individual of a pig-tailed macaque on social media on Minh Mang Street, Hue city. He and other members in the association agreed to redeem to hand it over to the forest rangers.

After that, Mr. Tran Van Son handed over that pig-tailed macaque to the Forest Protection Department of Hue city. At that time, that macaque individual weighed 7kg with light-brown feathers. Its sinciput was flat, and the tail was nearly similar to the pig tail.
