That female scientist is Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Ai Nhung, Director of the Center for Research, Production, and Technology Transfer under the Institute of Science and Technology Research and Application, and also Head of physical chemistry major, Faculty of Chemistry under the University of Sciences, Hue University.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Ai Nhung was awarded for her scientific research focused on the antibacterial and inhibitive capabilities of medical plants that are indigenous to Vietnam, discovering the correlations between natural compounds and protein structures. This is a notable and innovative scientific research project with potential practical applications.

The L’Oreal-UNESCO Awards for Women in Science is an award established in 1998 through the collaboration between L’Oreal France and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). It aims to promote the position of women in science by recognizing excellent achievements in scientific research done by female scientists.

This is the 14th year that L’Oreal-UNESCO Awards has been awarded and 38 excellent Vietnamese female scientists have received this award.
