Workers learning about the program for working abroad under contracts |
Since the beginning of the year, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has held six consulting workshops to enhance the capacity of local staff involved in employment and sending workers abroad, with over 1,200 participants. Additionally, four conferences were organized to disseminate policies and guide workers in applying for financial support from the provincial Social Policy Bank for overseas work contracts, benefiting over 400 officials and workers studying foreign languages and vocational education at training centers of labor export companies in the province, as well as those who passed the Korean Employment Permit System (EPS) exam at the provincial employment service center.
In the first nine months of the year, the province has sent 1,925 workers abroad, achieving 93.9% of the 2024 target. Among them, 31 workers went to South Korea under the EPS program, out of 113 who passed the Korean language exam for the EPS program and have completed their application files, awaiting selection by South Korean employers. The overseas employment market is mainly focused on Japan, accounting for 83.76%, Taiwan at 11.63%, South Korea at 2.23%, and some other countries.
Many comments were made regarding loan disbursement for workers going abroad for employment |
Since the beginning of the year, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has advised the provincial government to allocate 40 billion VND from the provincial budget, entrusted through the provincial Social Policy Bank, to provide loans for poor households and other policy beneficiaries, with 23.5 billion VND designated for workers going abroad. However, so far, the department has only received and processed support for 318 workers going abroad, with over 877 million VND disbursed.
The conference also heard reports from several units on the implementation of preferential loan programs for workers going abroad under contracts, as well as the status of non-profit labor export programs. Representatives from some companies involved in sending workers abroad shared and discussed various difficulties and challenges encountered during their operations in the province.
