85 excellent students from Quoc Hoc Gifted High school and Hue University of Sciences join the competition in 10 subjects (mathematics,tỷ số pisa computer science, literature, history, geography, biology, chemistry, physics, and foreign languages including English, and French).

In the academic year 2018-2019, the competition continues to hold oral examination (monologue presentation) in foreign languages subjects, and practicing examination in the subjects of physics, chemistry and biology.
According to Mr. Ton That Vien Tuong, Head of High School Education Division, under the Provincial Department of Education and Training, in the competition this year, Thua Thien Hue has a thorough preparation for revision time; the quality of students is equal in all subjects. The competition board held in the province creates favorable conditions for the candidates to participate in the competition. The Ministry of Education and Training mobilizes cadres and teachers in several provinces to proctor the competition, ensuring that it takes place safely and seriously.
The National Excellent Student Competition takes place from January 13 to 15.
