Presenting awards to authors with outstanding works and groups of works in the field of natural sciences

The proportion of female scientists in the country in general and Thua Thien Hue in particular is quite high, growing in both quantity and quality. In recent times, many female scientists in the province have achieved many outstanding achievements in applying technology transfer. Some of their works have been honored in international awards and published in the Vietnam Creativity Golden Book.

In the Award Summary Report, Mr. Ho Thang, Director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, said that the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee had reviewed and decided to award the 15 most outstanding works/groups of works based on the results of the review and evaluation of the Provincial Award Council. The award-winning works are those with research and creative ideas that have made important contributions to the province’s socio-economic sectors. Many works have been turned into excellent international publications in prestigious international journals.

Typical in the field of medicinal herbs are the following groups of works, namely  “Research on antibacterial, virus inhibition, and disease syndrome inhibition from medicinal herbs in Thua Thien Hue province and development of health care support products” led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Ai Nhung; “Application of Biotechnology in the conservation and development of some medicinal plants and ginger spices” led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Thi Bich Phuong; “Green extraction of bioactive substances from medicinal herbs” led by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoai.

In the field of medicine, there are studies that lay the foundation for implementing interventions to improve treatment effectiveness and quality of life for patients, such as the works titled “Research on gene mutations in leukemia prognosis at Hue Central Hospital” led by Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa, “Evaluation of the incidence of gestational diabetes and related factors at Hue Central Hospital” led by Specialist Dr II. Hoang Thi Lan Huong (MSc.)

Outstanding works and groups of works in the fields of agriculture - forestry - fishery being awarded

In the field of social sciences and humanities, there are typical works and groups of works such as “Preserving and promoting the cultural values of the Ta Oi ethnic group” led by Dr. Nguyen Thi Suu; “Application of advanced educational technology in teaching Physics and Natural Sciences towards developing students’ capacity” led by Assoc. Prf. Dr. Tran Thi Ngoc Anh; “Research on building programs and compiling documents to foster leadership and management skills for commune-level civil servants in Thua Thien Hue province” led by Dr. Nguyen Thi Chau and “Power in English classroom interaction in higher education in Vietnam from the perspective of critical discourse analysis theory” led by Dr. Do Thi Xuan Dung. 

In the field of agricultural sciences, there are typical projects of “Research on the production of biological foliar fertilizers from aquatic plants for some leafy vegetables in Thua Thien Hue province” led by Prof. Dr. Hoang Thi Thai Hoa and “Research on the ability to resist white mold wilt disease of peanuts” led by Dr. Phung Thi Bich Hoa.

In the field of natural and technological sciences, there are works as follows: “Evaluation of the composition and content of microplastics in some aquatic products in Thua Thien Hue province” led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Ai My; “Research on the characteristic quantities of solid core photonic crystal fibers for application of emitting light with supercontinuous spectrum” led by Dr. Nguyen Thi Thuy; “Application of new management methods and scientific and technological processes to produce and commercialize the product “Bun bo Hue - Complete spices” and the product “Bun bo Hue - convenient meals” led by Ms. Le Thi Kim Hang and the group of works “Research on the ability to disinfect water with ultraviolet rays, ozone and liquid membrane technology” led by Dr. Dang Thi Thanh Loc, senior lecturer.

The works have been thoroughly and deeply researched from the fundamental to applied respect. This is a clear demonstration of the effective connection between scientific research and production practice, contributing positively to the socio-economic development of the province. Besides the 15 excellent works winning the award, all 35 entries for the award held for the first time were highly appreciated by the panel of judges, demonstrating the passion for research and the great contributions of many generations of female scientists in the province.

Addressing at the Award Ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phuong highly appreciated the dedication of the authors who had worked hard to research, explore, and create valuable works and groups of works, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality. In addition, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong emphasized that all levels, sectors, localities, and women’s associations needed to continue to strive for researching and perfecting mechanisms and policies to create a favorable environment and conditions to support women of all walks of life in scientific research and start-ups, especially those regarding budget, capital, consulting, capacity building training, etc., and at the same time, continuing to foster, discover and promptly commend outstanding women in all fields to contribute to promoting women’s development and gender equality.
